When you think of New Orleans, you think of Mardi Gras, booze, and Bourbon Street, right? Those are solid reasons to schedule a trip to the Big Easy, but savvy travelers know New Orleans offers more than the opportunity to party.

In fact, one of the most amazing things about New Orleans is the sheer volume of things to do. You could go and just focus on the food (the city is packed with a host of James Beard Award winners, after all). Or you could fill your itinerary with music: As the birthplace of jazz, New Orleans is synonymous with live music, from the young brass band playing on the corner to the major headliners at Jazz Fest. And while we do encourage you to avoid spending all your time on Bourbon Street, there really is no better place for a good drink. (New Orleans is a cocktail town, but it also offers great places to sip wine or enjoy a local beer.)

It's impossible to fit everything worth doing in New Orleans onto one list, but we've put together a NOLA itinerary that will make for an unforgettable trip to the Big Easy.
