New hires at Baker Donelson, Gordon Arata, Milling Benson Woodward

NEW ORLEANS Clarke Perkins has joined Gordon Arata as an associate attorney in the New Orleans office, handling client litigation matters such as contract disputes, insurance claims, and real estate. Other new hires include Jennifer Crockett and Amy Boraks from The Ehrhardt Group, Charlotte Lang from Beacon Healing and Wellness in Covington, and Dr. Satvika Uppu from Our Lady of the Lake Medical Group. Kathleen DeBruhl from Milling Benson Woodward from The University of South Alabama has joined the firm as a senior healthcare attorney. Adrien Busekist from Kean Miller's casualty and mass tort litigation group, Dr. Benjamin Deaton from The Lake Physician Group, Ascension Pulmonology, and Katya Wowk from The Water Institute have joined The Coastal Institute for Gulf Mexico Studies.

Clarke Perkins has joined Gordon Arata as an associate attorney in the New Orleans office. Perkins handles a range of client litigation matters, including contract disputes, insurance claims and real estate. She previously worked as a summer clerk at the firm. She earned a bachelor's in political science and a minor in communications from LSU and a law degree from Tulane University School of Law. While in college, Perkins earned the Huel D. Perkins Leadership Award at LSU and the Tulane 34 Award, which recognizes 34 students across the university’s schools who demonstrate exemplary leadership, service and academic excellence. Jennifer Crockett and Amy Boraks have joined the staff of The Ehrhardt Group.

Crockett is a senior counselor, who has more than 15 years experience in print, radio, digital and broadcast media in Louisiana. She previously worked as a news reporter and anchor at New Orleans’ NBC-TV affiliate, where she earned Murrow, Emmy and Sigma Delta Chi awards. She earned a bachelor's in English, writing and culture from LSU. Boraks is an account executive. She spent 5 years as a news producers at TV stations in New Orleans and Lafayette and earned an Emmy Award for her live tornado coverage. She earned a bachelor's in broadcast journalism from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Charlotte Lang has been named program director at Beacon Healing and Wellness in Covington. She earned a bachelor's in psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master's in counselor education from Southeastern Louisiana University.

Rogers joins the financial services transactions group. He focuses his practice on transactions in the shipping and offshore industries and advises financial institutions and corporate borrowers in domestic and international commercial deals across a range of asset-based lending matters. Rodgers was a partner in the New York office of Watson Farley & Williams and acted as managing partner of the office for nine years. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Tulane Law School. Kathleen DeBruhl has joined the firm of Milling Benson Woodward. DeBruhl is an experienced healthcare attorney who has represented providers throughout the United States in matters of compliance, litigation, mergers and acquisitions.

Adrien G. Busekist has joined the downtown Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller as senior counsel with the casualty and mass tort litigation group. Busekist has experience in a variety of litigation and trials, including healthcare litigation, medical malpractice defense, insurance defense, premises liability, professional licensure proceedings and judicial commitment proceedings. She earned a bachelor's in political science with a minor in Spanish from LSU and a law degree from LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center. Four new providers have joined the team at Our Lady of the Lake Health. Dr. Benjamin Deaton specializes in critical care medicine and is located primarily at Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group – Ascension Pulmonology.

He earned a medical degree from the University of Colorado and completed a residency and a fellowship at the University of New Mexico Hospital. Dr. Satvika Uppu is part of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center’s Hospital Medicine Service where she specializes in caring for patients in the hospital. She earned a master's in pharmacology from Tulane University School of Medicine and a medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. Uppu completed a residency at LSU Health Sciences Center in Baton Rouge. Darbie Joffrion is a nurse practitioner specializing in pediatrics at Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group Children's Health Walk-in Clinic in Prairieville. She spent six years as a nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.

She earned a master's in nursing, with a pediatric primary care nurse practitioner specialty, from the University of South Alabama. Caitlin Vinning is a a nurse practitioner in family medicine with Our Lady of Lady of the Lake Physician Group in Denham Springs. She is a graduate of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University. Katya Wowk has joined The Water Institute as senior social scientist. Wowk previously served as chair for community resilience at the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies, Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. She cofounded the Texas Coastal Bend Regional Resilience Partnership, a formal association between TAMUCC and the Coastal Bend Council of Governments focused on building local capacity to mitigate disaster risk. Before that, she served as senior social scientist to the chief economist for U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

James had previously worked as a general pediatrician for Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group and most recently South Central Primary Care Center. She earned a bachelor's, cum laude, from Dillard University and a medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine Commonwealth of Dominica. James completed her residency at Our Lady of the Lake, where she was chief resident.
