The New Orleans coroner released the identity of six people killed in four separate incidents since Wednesday.
The coroner identified Joseph Washington, 8, Jayla Washington, 5, and Avery Washington, 3, as the children who died in a fire allegedly set by their father in the 4900 block of America Street early Wednesday morning. Their cause and manner of death remain under investigation, spokesperson Jason Melacon said.
The coroner also identified Calvin Brown, Jr., 41, as the man fatally shot Wednesday evening outside a gas station in the 3400 block of Franklin Avenue. Police are seeking a suspect in that killing.
