Landry, the current Louisiana Attorney General, has endorsed longtime aide Liz Murrill in the race to succeed him as the state's top lawyer. Murrill, who nearly won the October primary election outright by securing just shy of 50% of the votes, will face Democrat and trial attorney Lindsey Cheek in the runoff.

Governor-elect Jeff Landry on Monday endorsed fellow Republicans in the races for Louisiana attorney general, secretary of state and treasurer, all of which are headed to a runoff contest on Nov. 18.
Landry, the current Louisiana attorney general, backed longtime aide Liz Murrill in the race to succeed him as the state's top lawyer.
Murrill is a conservative who has touted her extensive legal experience on the campaign trail and nearly won the October primary election outright by securing just shy of 50% of the votes. She faces Democrat and trial attorney Lindsey Cheek in the runoff.
